With my numerous experiences in education, I think I could be a great asset in helping students become more knowledgeable. I have worked as a Tutor, Assistant Teacher, and did a short placement as an Interim Teacher. I can easily adjust to changing environments that will best suit the student’s potential. I was a Tutor in an after school program, and was an Assistant Teacher in a Special Education classroom. I finished an Interim Teaching placement in a middle school A.P. English classroom.
I have a somewhat relaxed teaching style that does not compromise the distinction or respect between student and teacher. This teaching style results in a classroom atmosphere where students feel comfortable responding to my questions and asking for further clarification about complex topics. Many students have told me that my teaching style is refreshing and they feel comfortable in class.

A Little Bit About Me...

The teaching style that brings the best success I've found is centered on two points. First of all, it is based on listening, which means getting the student to talk. Eventually, with guidance, I aim to get them the ability to talk through and solve any problem. The second major technique I like to use is analogies. Even complicated subjects can be simplified into their core components which are easy to understand if taught as an analogy to something more familiar in daily life. Just as the Bible uses parables or employers use phrases from team sports to explain team roles, I find lots of success by using analogies.

I received my BS in Accounting 1988. While getting my degree I was involved in the on campus tutoring program. I have tutored students in, accounting mathematics, philosophy, marketing, business law, finance, and religion. Since graduating from college I have had several training opportunities in various jobs. These jobs have given me a wide range of experience in training (tutoring) a wide range of people with various levels of education, and their ability to grasp the information required for the job.
