I would explain to the students the rule of grammar in French and the rule of mathematics, set up some problems for them to resolve and this way they have a very good understanding of the subjects and able to perform on the subject independently.
I had volunteered my time to tutored some kids in my neighborhood. This was the time while i was in college. I have tutored the subject of Math 8th grade level and Math in the second grade level. My comments on tutoring Grammar : I am NYS certified in Literacy (grades 5-12) and English (grades 7-12), although I have several years of experience with children as young as Kindergarten.

I graduated Pace University in 2009 with my degree in childhood education with a concentration in English. I tutored a 15 year old girl in her house for one year my last year of college.
