I change my teaching style depending on the client. With ESL students, I will often point out every mistake to them so that they can get used to seeing what the correct way looks like. With other students, I point out a few mistakes, and then expect them to find the others on their own. With math, I will give out a sample problem, work out how it is done, then expect the student to do a new math problem on his or her own. All in all, I will adjust my teaching style depending on the needs of the client.
I have tutored several people in the past in basic algebra for various things such as the GED or a college class. As a professional educator, I have five years experience in working with both adolescents and adults in the public high school environment. I am currently an adjunct English instructor at Piedmont Technical College in Greenwood, South Carolina. In both my undergraduate and graduate studies, the emphasis has always been on professional writing skills.
