I began as a volunteer through my university's writing lab, per recommendation by a cherished professor. I have worked with elementary, high school, and college-aged students, providing instruction in subjects ranging from English to biology. I am comfortable teaching a group, but I also have ample experience working one-on-one with students. I believe that course material should engage students. I do not believe that rote memorization is practical in most real-world situations, and I prefer to provide instruction in a manner that makes learning interesting and fun. If this wasn't complete enough, I would allow the student to use some of the learning CD's I have on the subjects that are also problem driven. If the student is having trouble understanding concepts then I would try to create analogies relative to the student's environment.

Every child has different learning systems and sometimes it takes several tries to reach that special spot that opens the child's eyes to what excites them about learning.
