During my Junior year of high school I began to works as an Associate/Substitute preschool teacher for the Park Hill School District in Parkville, MO. I continued my work through their program during my breaks from being a student in college. On breaks, I was able to work approximately 40hrs/weeks. In spring 2008 I completed an internship in a 7th grade classroom for 4 months. In fall 2008 I completed an internship in an 8th grade classroom for 4 months. Also, in spring 2009 I am currently completing my semester of student teaching in an 8th grade classroom at Warrensburg Middle School in Warrensburg, MO. I am proficient in verbal and written communications and was fortunate to have several of my college papers used as examples with which other students could learn proper formal writing techniques. I have supervised accounting staff for 15 years and am a patient and encouraging coach. I taught college students computer science and applications courses at Sanford Brown College and National College. I taught 7th grade English as a second language for the Kansas City School District. I was also a substitute teacher. I taught English to ESL foreign language students using my guitar. I also let my students play my guitar and sing along. It was the only way I discovered, which would keep their attention so they would remain seated.

Laid back, but encouraging.If a child is struggling, I don't think you should add fear and criticism to the situation. Having had Catholic nuns in all my grammer school days, pretty much put the "fear of God" into me, until I went on to public high school and college. then I was able to relax and embrace english and literature. My BA degree was in Speech & Theatre. Who would have known that a shy kid like me would have excelled in public speaking, english, and theatre. I love the English language, even though I've had classes in French and Spanish. I started school when I was 4 years old (too early), and all my grade school years was challanged with education. Now that I am an adult, I feel that I have the experience to help children understand and find it easier to learn English and grammer, sentence writing, composition writing, essays, etc.
