I am graduating from Texas Tech University in August with a B.A. in psychology. I do very well in tutoring math, especially cal, because I struggled with the subject at first, it didn't come natural, and thus I am able to break it down into understandable levels. My comments on tutoring Algebra I : One on One tutoring is the key to math success!

I have more than 5 years of experience as an elementary math teacher. I love to teach and help students. I have interpersonal skills where I keep students engaged in the materials. I help them feel comfortable, learn the materials, and get on track. I make a point that at the end of the tutoring session, they must know and learn the formulas, solutions, equations, etc. --- the math/topic.

My passion for education blossomed while volunteering as a tutor with Somali refugee children in Pittsburgh, PA during college. I worked with families in their homes to develop English reading, writing, and speaking skills. After graduating with a B.A. in History and Political Science I joined Teach For America, where I taught first grade for two years and substitute taught pre-kindergarten through fifth grade for one year. A major focus while teaching first grade was developing literacy skills and instilling a love and enthusiasm for reading and writing in my students.
