Algebra II is one of my top subjects!

I bring both personality and creativity to math sessions, and I am concerned with the intellectual and emotional well-being of all tutees/students. I currently have a long list of clients that I serve through one-on-one, in-home tutoring--and have both a high success rate and client loyalty with them.
I have enjoyed the personal gratification of tutoring since high school. Since I was 15 years old, I have shared my knowledge and love of mathematics with people of all ages. I attended Spelman College and Georgia Institute of Technology, where I received my Bachelor of Science in both Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering. I also tutored my peers at these institutions. My goal is to help students understand the foundation and theory behind math concepts, so that they can tackle any math problem with ease and confidence. Confidence is key!

My comments on tutoring Algebra II : Enjoyable subject.

I started out tutoring elementary students in basic math and English grammar while I attended college part time in the 1980's. I continued tutoring young students and adults in the 1990's, tutoring Basic Math, Basic and Intermediate Algebra, Basic Geometry, English Composition, Speech, Study Skills and the Sciences. In addition, tips were given to enhance test-taking skills in hard-to-Ace subjects like Economics. I have tutored for the Sickle Cell Organization in 2001, helping students catch up numerous missed assignments. I tutor when the opportunity presents itself. Last Summer-Fall I assisted a nursing student in Speech and helped with two research papers. More recently (Oct.2009-Jan.2010), I worked tutoring students grade 2-10. From April to June 2010, I tutored high school students from Highland Park High School in Basic Math and Geometry, and Algebra I & II. Starting the latter ... read more

Algebra II is one of my top subjects! I worked in an Algebra 2 classroom for one semester while student teaching, and also for a year as a teacher's assistant.

I worked as a tutor in the Math Learning Center at Michigan State University for 3 years, and was also a teaching assistant for a precalculus for a semester while attending MSU. I have a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from Michigan State, and have completed a semester of student teaching and graduate certification courses in teaching mathematics.
I like to use what the student already knows to prompt them forward into discovering how to complete the problem at hand on their own with guidance. I think this help connects the new material to the material the student already knows, which, in turn, will help them remember and understand it better.

PROFESSIONAL ACCOUNTANT AND ENTREPRENEUR WHO ENJOYS TEACHING

I describe my teaching style as student-oriented. I focus heavily on each particular student's unique learning requirements. It is my opinion that every student learns in a different capacity and teachers must spend more time with each individual student, accommodating the lesson plans to fit the student’s needs.
In addition to owning my own accounting business and having a Bachelor's of Science degree in Business Management as well as a second Bachelor's of Science degree in Accounting, my experience includes working in corporate, public, and government accounting for the past eight years. I am currently working for a small public accounting firm as a Senior Tax Accountant , running my own firm where I specialize in small business accounting and start ups, and tutoring students and business owners in accounting and business subjects.

I have tough for more than 10 years. Two important things teacher must have, deep understanding of the subjects and outstanding methodologies to deliver information to the trainee. On 2014, I got my high diploma on modern teaching methodologies after my PhD in Engineering. I have tough Mathematics, physics, chemistry, Engineering, Arabic, Computer programs and Test preparation.
I remember many of my high school colleagues asked me to teach the class because of unique talent in teaching I had. I believe students have problems in learning because they get information in wrong orders or they cannot arrange them in correct order. Teachers should organize and deliver information in suitable ways, so students can recall them easily. I published a paper, which described the impact of modern active teaching strategies on student’s performance. I found that when students find the informati ... read more

I have recently graduated from Wayne State University as a Ph.D. in Biochemistry. During my Ph.D. study, I have some experience to help undergraduate students on their homework. Also, I have mentored several summer students on their research and daily lab work. I am pretty happy to help students succeed in their courses. Since my major is Biochemistry, I think I have abilities to help students in general science classes, such as mathematics, chemistry and any life science courses. Besides these science courses, my native language is chinese and I think I can help your chinese too, if you like chinese and chinese culture.
I hope you can bring your textbook and study materials with your homework and exam papers while tutoring. I can help you find out the answers of your questions and improve your study.

I believe in making learning fun and relevant for my students. Beginning by learning about the student's baseline comprehension of the subject matter, I then determine the steps which are needed to motivate the student toward the final goal.
My professional background is in marketing, admissions/career services in higher education, and theology. I have taught undergraduate level theology for over two years at a local seminary and am currently working on my doctoral dissertation in Catholic studies. Evaluations from my students have indicated that I am able to break down complex ideas into manageable concepts. I am also very comfortable with international students.

Recently Retired Female Engineer

I would classify my tutoring style as "old school." Ladies and gentlemen, the best way to learn a problem-based subject such as math or chemistry is to solve problems; there are no short cuts.
I am a recently retired engineer. I spent last summer working in a City of Detroit grade school as a tutor. About ten years ago I taught Environmental Science classes at Wayne State as an adjunct faculty. This is the only official experience I have had teaching/tutoring; however during my academic career I frequently explained course material to fellow students and to study partners. During the 30 years I worked as a Chemist and as an Engineer I was frequently asked to explain technical information to a lay audience since I seemed to have a knack for doing just that.
