My comments on tutoring Elementary Math : I teach math at the early grades only.

I have taught grades 3 and six as part of my internship in Messina, New York. I tutored third grade children in remedial reading as a private business. After raising my own children and working in industry I returned to teaching. I taught ESL to adults in Boston, MA and as part of Literacy,Inc in Escondido, CA. I have tutored third grade students in reading as part of Oasis Program. I currently home school a third grade boy in all subjects. My students have enjoyed my classes and found learning can boost their confidence.
I believe a strong emphasis on spelling, grammar and comprehension is key to future learning. I approach these subjects from different angles so that it does stay interesting. I believe in bolstering self confidence and yet encourage students to put effort into their lessons.

I have tutored for a non-profit organization, Life Christian Church, as an after school program on Wednesdays free to the community. I have also taught English and History to home school students. One of the biggest accomplishments was watching of the students who detested writing papers because he did not believe he could do it, grow into a man who is not writing weekly papers confidently. Hands on - I'd prefer if those who I tutor had a computer to experiment on. Learning through doing is the best way.
I have 4+ years of experience developing in python 2.7 and Pygame, with working game examples being mainly a LightCycle game. My comments on tutoring Elementary Math : With my mathematical skills I feel very proficient in Elementary Math. I don't have much experience tutoring this subject because I work with middle and high school students.

I feel that positive reinforcement and patience are two very valuable traits when it comes to teaching. I work hard to ensure that I demonstrate these traits when working with my students.
I just recently graduated California State University with a degree in Liberal Studies. Within this degree I chose to emphasize on mathematics because I want to become a high school math teacher. If you don't like the results, I haven't done my job.

All I do is tend to my students needs. I'm personal. Like to get off track with my students and lead them back to the point.
I won the state championship in the 100 meters and went to Adams State College in Alamosa CO. Broke a leg in track and received withdrawn F across the board. Left college and healed up. Went to the Army two years and reserve three years. Came back and picked up the quickest degree possiable. Moved to Hawwaii, three years. Became a ciritified dept of defense government contractor. Furnish and deliver contracts. Ended up moving back home to Albuquerque NM. I started working in the Indian Casinos for 13 years. I bought a house and retired. But now I'm tired of sitting around.
