I had a 4.1 GPA throughout high school and spent half of my years in honors and AP classes. I am finishing my freshman year of college at Assumption College in Worcester, MA, majoring in Biology and minoring in Spanish. I currently teach high school science. In the past four years I have taught classes such as physical science (an introductory course to physics and chemistry), biology and anatomy & physiology. I currently have a BS in Animal Science and a Master's of Art and Teaching in General Science. I also hold certification to teach Biology in the state of New Hampshire.
I enjoy teaching high schoolers for a variety of reasons. Mostly because of how honest I can be with them. I enjoy teaching hands-on, real life application of the sciences in a way that students can understand the concept as well as the usefulness to them out in the real world. My goal is not to be the student's friend or even their favorite teacher, but to be fair and prepare them for what life might throw at them outside of the classroom. I want them to have the tools and discipline to succeed in the real world.

I believe in the expression “that you have two ears on one mouth for a reason, in that you should listen twice as much as you speak.” You have to know what the problem is before you can begin to solve it. I learned to be patient, understanding and compassionate when dealing with a student’s learning style one-on-one. I have acquired the skills to adapt to an individual’s unique learning style by using their other senses. A student will learn most effectively by utilizing various parts of the brain by seeing it, hearing it and writing it down. And, just like learning a new person’s name, you have to repeat it over and over again in your head until it becomes learned.

I have a passion for teaching but waited until I gained some "real world" experience. I found that this has helped me relate to my students since I am able to make meaningful connections to their learning.
I like to discover what my students already know about the topic and to expose any misconceptions. Brainstorming activities work well for me. A Little Bit About Me...

I find working with children rewarding. I am patent and understanding and cater to individual learning styles. I use my artistic sense to help students visually understand learning. I believe the key to understanding and learning is to make learning fun and memorable. I'm a strong believer in constructivist learning and believe that children need to explore to learn.
