My comments on tutoring Elementary : I teach first grade

I have taught in the public schools for 14 years in grades Kindergarten and First. I have taught English speaking children as well as Hispanic children whose first language is Spanish. I am ESOL endorsed. I also taught at an IB school for 5 years at which time I taught the Primary Years Curriculum. I love working with children and I have had great success especially in teaching children to read as well as understand Math in a way that makes sense to them.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a high school junior, I was selected to attend the prestigious NC School of Science and Mathematics (NCSSM). Afterward, I graduated early from UNC-Chapel Hill, receiving a BA in English with a minor concentration in mathematics. I pursued a career in information technology, most recently running Gap Inc.'s European operations. Last year, I left the corporate world to write a novel, which I completed in June 2005. Currently, I work part-time in the Swain County School's marketing department and write freelance. I was also recently awarded NCSSM's 2005 Service Award for volunteerism. I am a very avid learner and have earned two degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill: a BA in psychology and a JD.
