I worked for 12 years as a Special Education teacher in the public school system, teaching students with ADD, learning disabilities, autism, Aspergers, emotional and behavior disorders, and mild intellectual disabilities in a resource room and inclusion setting. I am able to quickly make significant connections with the students, building the good rapport that is essential to achieving a good working relationship. I especially enjoy working with reluctant and struggling readers, and nothing makes me happier than to see them overcome the obstacles that have kept them from success.

While I was working with the Reading by the River program I worked with four different students each of which learned in very different ways. From this I learned at a very early time in my life that it is crucial to cater to each individual students needs.
