My comments on tutoring Homework Help : I used to help my little brother and people within my own age range with their homework. I was told that I know how to break it down enough that there is no way people can't understand. If I don't know something, I am more than willing to find out.

When I am tutoring others, I have a very hands on approach. I may offer help and hints, but I don't give away answers, I make people work for their grades. I try to make things interesting or entertaining when I'm tutoring, just so people don't get bored.

Once these have been determined it is much easier to determine the areas of academic needs and teach according to how they best learn. When working one on one with a student I practice a few different methods of teaching and whichever one they feel the most comfortable with and I receive the most attentiveness from, is the one that I continue to use. For example, some students prefer that you walk them through a lesson, go over a few practice problems and then let them work on assignments, knowing that they have you to assist them when needed.
