1980- 2015: worked for Nestle as food research chemist and retired in June 2015. Part of my job as a lead research scientist was to supervise and mentor interns. I was also a member of a team that provided training to Nestle employees globally on a regular basis. 1968-1980: Taught Chemistry (College Level) at the University of the East in the Philippines and at Los Angeles Valley College (Community College) in Los Angeles. I did volunteer work at Ohio read for at least 3 years helping Grade 2-3 learn how to read.

I attended Sarah Lawrence College, where I studied English and Spanish literature, Ancient Greek, history and philosophy. I graduated with an MFA in English from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop in May of 2008, and I am currently the Provost’s Post-Graduate Writing Fellow in fiction at the University of Iowa. I believe the best way to learn is peer-to-peer learning. As an auto-didact I have the study skills necessary to regurgitate information as taught by the current institutional models. This is an uncreative and highly unnatural way to learn. There's a reason no major discovery was made in a classroom -- true innovation, discovery and learning is an organic process.
