LESSONS SHOULD ACCOMMODATE STUDENT LEARNING STYLES

My belief is that all students have different learning styles. Therefore lessons need to be individualized to meet student needs. In order to be successful students need to be engaged by creative teachers. My teaching experience has taught me to accommodate these needs when developing lesson plans.
I have 15 years of teaching experience with special needs students in a rural school district. During this time i provided private tutoring sessions for Elementary, Middle, High School and College students. At the college level my tutoring experience is with reading, writing, study skills and organization. Currently I develop educational programming for incarcerated youth.

I like to use different methods to help students learn. I am a hands-on teacher who believes in having students discover their own successful learning styles. Students learn the best by doing, so, I try to let them figure things out while guiding them through instead of having them memorize rote information. I have a strong math and science background. In college, I started out in chemical engineering (2 1/2 yrs.) and then switched to education.
