My comments on tutoring Guitar : Classical. I have played a few solo concerts, and plenty for friends.

I use the heuristic style - teach a little; now you try it! The student learns best what they learn from within. At my English boarding school, that is the way we were taught, and it worked. Also, I show them different study methods to see what works for them. I have read widely on psychology. Early on, I assess a student's best learning mode - visual, aural, spatial, numerical, verbal, etc., and play to it. While being active in drama I learned how to 'read' the hearers and viewers. Many of my former students are teachers. Sometimes they recommend students to me when their students pass beyond the teacher's comfort zone. More About This Tutor...

I first started to study music when I was 11 years old. I grew a love for the clarinet and played for many years in middle school and high school. In college, I majored in clarinet and also studied all wind/percussion instruments as well as piano. I obtained my BA instrumental teaching degree (K-12) through Western Carolina University in June of 2003. Through the years, I have had the privilage and pleasure of teaching band in a classroom setting, marching band, and private lessons.
The reason I became a teacher was to transfer my love of music to my students and also to see the joy of their successes. There is nothing like seeing the smile of success on a students face. I care greatly for all students that I have taught and will teach.

A Little Bit About Me...

I do enjoy helping students with their problems. I have a technique of visualization. for example, which is the first example I use. I tell the student to think of a tree. in the seconds you think of a tree, you don't think of just the tree. you think of the roots, the trunk, the limbs, the branches, the leaves. then you think of whats going on in the tree, right down to the point of the tree taking in carbon dioxide and giving off oxygen and water. Why is the tree giving off water. most people do not know that the tree is making water because it is attaching hydrogen to the oxygen to get rid of the hydrogen, acid. I can apply this same visualization to almost anything.
