I enjoy children and trying to teach them new and exciting things. At times, I understand that it requires patience to work with children, but if you are able to do that then chances of success are much more likely. I believe that everything we teach to these children will be needed sooner or later in life, and that the understanding of this knowledge will further improve their lives. I believe in setting high expectations for students and believe that all students can learn and excel. Most of the students I work with have had such negative experiences with school that they become frustrated. I work to restore their self-esteem and to teach them to recognize what they need to do to learn. I compare my students to cars: some have automatic transmissions and they just get in and drive without much effort; some are like standard transmissions - it's not as easy for them, it's more work to learn how to work a clutch and shift gears, but they can learn to go as far and as well as the "automatic transmission" students.

With my education I have had experience researching child development in a hands on manner through the Iowa State's Child Development Lab, which ranges of children from birth to six years old. In the classroom, I have development an extensive understanding of the way children develop both mentally and physically, as well as effective ways to discipline children in a dignified manner.
