A Little Bit About Me...

Hands on, Practice based, through step by step instruction. Visual learning whenever applicable. Geometry, algebra, physics, and some calculus are in my range of teaching. I am very patient as long as the student is trying to learn and cares about the work. Mental support of students is half the battle.
I am comfortable tutoring lower level math classes, mechanical design, or other engineering classes. Writing classes such as English, literature, or fine arts are fine as well. I have a BS in Mechanical and Aerospace engineering from MIZZOU. I am very proficient in technical editing, critiquing papers and writing technical papers.

I have been employed by the Cambria Heights School District for 14 years as a Title 1 educator. I currently am involved in curriculum math and reading. My job mainly deals with helping students achieve success by developing learning skills that fit the individual needs of specific students and adapting regular classroom instruction to fit those needs.
Most lessons can be taught in various styles but teachers are often faced with a curriculum guideline that they must follow. Often they do not have time to reteach the lesson and students begin to fall behind. I enjoyed tutoring college students interested in physics. During my two years of experienced, I learned that students use different approaches solving physics problems. With physics, I try to apply the problem to a real world situation in which the student would be able to relate it to in which will help them fully understand what is being asked. I found it effective to help the students understand the concepts rather than the problem they are trying to solve. My style as a tutor is more of a question and answer, in which I question the students if they are right and why they think they are. Instead of a instruction type of you do this then this approach. My main goal when tutoring at Slippery Rock was to get the students to understand and enjoy physics as much as I do.
