In my experience as a musician, I have found that teaching a subject I love can really inspire students to excel. It's necessary to spread our knowledge to others. My specialty is music, but I love to teach in general because kids need good mentors. Each child is different so I use an individualized approach to my teaching styles. We all learn differently whether we are auditory, visual, or kinesthetic learners. I began tutoring mathematics when I was still a student and this allows me to relate to the students. During the past three years I have tutored a wide range of mathematic subjects ranging from high school geometry and algebra to college differential equations. I have specifically spent the majority of my time tutoring students in college algebra. After obtaining my mathematics degree, it enabled me to gain a better understanding of math that allows me to translate such a difficult subject to students. My principle idea of teaching is that no one learns the same. Having tutored a wide variety of students taught me that I have to be flexible and adaptive in explaining the subject.
