My teaching style is centered around working with an individual wherever they happen to be at. In college, I assisted other students in Drury's writing lab. And, as an editor and journalist, I have extensive skills in dealing with helping reporters to communicate clearly and succinctly.
I graduated magna cum laude from Drury University, a private liberal arts college, in 1987, with a major in fine arts (photography and graphic design emphasis) and minor in communications (four years experience on the college newspaper). I also have 21 years of experience as an editor at weekly and daily newspapers in Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma. I grew up with both partents in the public education system, I was a student-teacher in H.S. and I earned a bachelor degree in Parks, Recreation, Natural Resource Management with a minor in Art Education. After graduation I taught Art and pre-school classes for the Springfield, MO Parks Dept. I was a librarian at the Springfield Art Museum. A Little Bit About Me...

When I do teach others about English, I try to understand the way in which they learn. For example, if I were describing the usage of a word, I would explain it, and then use different examples. Once I found which way they best understood, I would expound upon that explanation. Because I enjoy learning about English and using it properly, it gives me great pleasure to pass my knowledge to others. I believe that having strong English skills, spoken and written, is important in expressing our opinions and knowledge.
