I started out my teaching career as a reading specialist for struggling readers in grades 1 through 6. I am trained in a program called Next Steps, which was designed by educators at the University of Utah, for readers below grade level. All of the students that I tutored saw significant improvements in reading and writing by the end of the school year. I then moved on to become a regular first grade teacher for two years. I have been involved with the National Program I Can READ for 2 years I helped k-3rd graders improve reading skills/ I was lucky enough to be staff(and a volunteer) for the boys and girls club for 1 year.I have helped in many local elementary schools with reading. A Little Bit About Me...

My son & myself have Dyslexia & ADHD, plus, my son has a few other learning disability's, so the experts say. We have learned together how to make all of this work for us. I researched a lot & learned how to teach him how to make it all this work for him. He was on low dose med's for 6 months, I took him off because he learned the difference in 7th grade. No reason for any more med's. I do not think kids should be labeled as "disabled" because others think different then they do! My son thinks way different then my daughter but that doesn't mean either one is wrong. My son is very successful at his job & he is now a boss & he loves his job. He is 31 years old and a great person, everyone like him.

A Little Bit About Me...

Starting from high school I have always been passionate about young children learning. As a young child I was fortunate enough to have people in my life care about my education and help me succeed. That is what I wish to do. I have approximately three years in tutoring English/Reading and Math to all grades of elementary school and middle school. I have succeeded in helping many children in succeeding and achieving their dreams and goals for school.
I believe that all children learn differently. I do not have a specific way of teaching because I get to know my students and help them learn depending on their abilities and learning style. I do however believe in each student learning to do things on their own—I am their tutor, not someone to do their homework for them. I believe in constantly practicing until the concepts are grasped.
