I have been teaching for twenty-nine years in subjects of English, Literature, Art History, Drawing, World Civilization, and the Humanities. I have earned three degrees, a BA in Social Sciences/English, a MH in Humanities, and a PhD in Fine Arts, which have enabled me to teach a variety of areas. I approach teaching as a challenge; as I know not every student learns the same way. I first start by finding a common ground; a level of knowledge if you will. Essentially I find what they know and where do they need help. From there I like to find out something the student has an interest in; thus allowing me to relate subjects to something they find interesting. I also like to constantly reinforce what the student has learned with questions and examples. Finally I relate everything that the student has learned to the real world; which I find gives them a better understanding of what they've learned, and for the importance of it.

I worked at LearningRX as a cognitive skills trainer where I worked with students who were having difficulty in school and I was able to find their areas of difficulty and help build those areas up while also helping with their memory, visual acuity, and processing speed.
I like to have a relationship with the students I tutored where they feel comfortable with me; I want them to be able to tell me the problems they're having with the work and what I can do to help. I like to be friendly with them while still being an authority figure where they want to do their best. I think this type of relationship allows me to push the students to their maximum limit without discouraging them when we're having a difficult session.
