Since graduating from my undergraduate program in 2007, I have had a passion for teaching and learning. My first teaching experience was working in Camden, New Jersey. I served as an intern art teacher for at-risk first through third graders in an after school/summer school program. Shortly thereafter I started my Master's program, where I integrated my passion for teaching into my capstone project. I was given the opportunity to teach at-risk fifth through eighth graders basic life and business skills, which included everything from how to calculate simple interest to how to apply for college. Around the same time, my goddaughter, now eleven, was diagnosed with learning disabilities. In the past 28 years I have enjoyed watching the young kindergarten student grow and learn. I believe that all children can learn, but as adults we have to allow them to learn at their pace. Each child learns in different ways, some by seeing, some by example, and some by doing. I believe I set a good example for learning because I learn something new every day and sometimes from the very children I teach. Discipline should be positive and directed at the behavior not the child. I have a very calm teaching manor and believe that helps children stay calm.
I have taught Sunday School for 28 years in the kindergarten area. I have trained numerous PC users over the last ten years in general PC usage and various software packages.
