My comments on tutoring Geography : Tutored for 5th and 6th grade students. Taught 1st and 5th grade. Have many fun ways to learn Geography, and make it stick.

As a teacher of diversified classrooms for 15 years, I am well versed in using the methodologies of cooperative learning, direct instruction, thematic teaching, individual accommodation, and differentiated instruction. I foster learning strengths in both group and individual work connected to real world connections, self confidence, social interaction, study skills, character building and problem solving skills. As a personal tutor for more than 10 years, I incorporate these methods with prompts and information about the child from the parents, to best accommodate both academic and personal concerns.
I have worked with children in a variety of settings and ages over the past 25 years: church camp counselor, gymnastics coach, dance instructor, theater, forensics judge, tutor, and classroom teacher. These experiences have both shaped my style of teaching and equipped me with a broad ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

With my bachelor degree in Civil Engineering, I have developed a strong understanding and comprehension of math and science. I have tutored my younger brother in physics while he was in high school and three years ago as a Resident Assistant on a floor specifically for engineering student, I have helped my residents with their college level physics and some calculus classes. I have also taught tennis for two summers for the West Bend Parks and Recreation Department.
I am an easy going individual who attempts to make learning fun and relate it to real life examples. With physics and calculus, there are many instances when assignments can be very difficult to comprehend because it's difficult to see how a derivative or integral relates to real life situations. I do my best to try and simplify difficult problems into easy steps that a student would already know. I feel that the b ... read more

I have taught in the Clark County School District for 2 years in Las Vegas, NV. I also have a minor in special education and have worked as an in home therapist for children with Autism. I have my CPR/First Aid/ AED certification until 2013.
I am a very hands on teacher. I like to make learning fun and not boring. I know that all children have the ability to learn have a special education minor to help me teach ALL students. I like to use different approaches for each student as they all learn in different ways. I also firmly believe that each student needs to be met where they are at and taught from that point. Students need to feel successful and safe in the environment in which they ar ... read more

I graduated from UW Oshkosh with a BS degree in Elementary Education and English. I have been a teacher for 18 years. I have taught all subjects to PreK, second and third grades. I have also worked with At risk high school students. I am currently a professional caregiver and activity aide in a group home with individuals who have physical and cognitive disabilities.
As a teacher, I believed strongly in cooperative learning where peers are taught to teach each other. I enjoy one on one teaching where I can focus on a students' needs much easier. I believe that hands on experiences are beneficial to all students. Each child learns differently and I like to focus on and teach according to their learning style.

Every student is unique and has different ways of doing things. In a swimming pool, you can see physical improvements in technique which ultimately improves performance. In teaching, it is different. It is sometimes very difficult to see the "light bulb" go on when a student finally grasps a new concept. I take different approaches in different situation to help students achieve results.
I have a degree in elem. education and taught 4 years of 6th grade math and social studies in a catholic middle school. I also have a two-year accounting degree and have been in sales for about 10 years and have owned my own office supply business. I also coached age-group swimming for over 10 years.

As a student I enjoyed most the teachers who facilitated learning. Teachers who lead students on a road of discovery as they learned, who taught me how to think and not what to think. I model my teaching after the same style I enjoyed as a student. Helping a student discover for themselves the material not only educates them but fosters a passion for the subject at hand. Rote memory has it's place and is essential, but when a student becomes passionate about a subject, then the door is open for them to excel at it. I teach and tutor with the goal in mind to foster that passion, that drive and to be able to carry it throughout a life of learning.
I was an exceptionally driven high school student, taking the most difficult schedule my small private school would offer. My course work included AP calculus and AP US government, on both exams I received good marks. In college I st ... read more

I have taught elementary students for 27 years. I have taught 2nd-4th grades. I have done graduate work in reading and have obtained a reading minor. I have experience teaching students with many different reading processing difficulties. Both in my classroom and in my own tutoring business. I have helped many students become better reader. It is in the summers that I have operated my own tutoring business. Working mostly with children from our Title one reading program. I have also tutored students in math.
In my tutoring of students in reading and math, I have assessed each child and from the assessments I have build a program that address the child's needs. Some of the materials that I have used are project read materials, open court phonics,Linda Bell's materials. So, I have the greatest interest in finding areas that a child needs help with and then finding materials ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

For over 15 years I've taught children from kindergarten through eighth grade in various settings. The majority of years I worked with first through fourth graders so I have accumulated experience in reading, math and language arts. I've spent several summers working through an area college helping grade school children make progress in areas they found difficult in the classroom environment. I've also spent two years tutoring in a classroom setting.
If I had to put a label on my teaching style, I would call it interactive. I believe children learn best if they are actively involved in the learning process. Using materials and techniques that appeal to all of your child's senses is not only a more enjoyable way to teach, but a more effective way to learn. While it is important to have stated goals and levels of achievement, feedback from your child is truly important to me.

I have spent my entire professional life teaching children. Your child and I will work hard, but we will also have an enjoyable time. I will use all of my education and experience to increase your child's reading and comprehension. My goal will be to help your child to become a more confident reader, and have a fun time doing it!

My 316 WI Reading Teachers license allows me to diagnose your child's reading problems and create a program to advance their reading skills. I go through all the concepts with the individual pertaining to what portion of statistics they are studying at that time. I will then walk them through a couple of examples demonstrating how to properly obtain the correct answer. I will follow that up by asking them to do a problem without any direct instruction from me. I will watch them work on the problem to assure they are working on it properly. If any mistakes are made I will politely point them out as the individual is working. Finally, I will ask them to work on problems completely on their own and I will check their answers when they are done. I feel the only way to learn statistics, or any math for that matter, is through repetition and working on a lot of problems.
While going to college at the UW – Eau Claire, I've been a math and statistics tutor for the past four years. I've also been a Teacher’s Assistant for a stat ... read more
