My comments on tutoring ACT : I have a unique program for preparing students for the math portion of the ACT. I use diagnostic testing to help identify areas that need to be addressed, and provide practice using ACT practice tests to strengthen skills and build confidence.

I have taught at the high school and middle school for 17 years, in the Mequoun-Thiensville an Grafton School Districts. I was a school counselor for 5 years (middle school) and am currently an associate middle school principal. I retired from the Army Reserve in 2006 with 20 years of service. I have been tutoring for over 9 years.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently in my final semester at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee in the Secondary English Education program. I am a full-time student teacher at Milwaukee High School of the Arts in the Milwaukee Public School system; I teach English 9 and British Authors (10th grade English). I was a part-time student teacher last fall at Roosevelt Middle School of the Arts, and taught 7th grade English. A Little Bit About Me...

During my research-based M.Sc. study in Microbiology, I TA'ed three undergraduate courses (General Biology & Introduction to Microbiology). Over the years, I have become more aware of myself so that I can learn more efficiently. I scored well on my ACT (33) and my GRE (the grad school equivalent of the SAT - 690 for verbal, 740 for quantitative), and was able to attend well-regarded schools for my scientific training. I have many people to thank for my writing and analytical abilities, especially M. Nunley from Middlebury College.
I believe a good teacher will be able to convey the information in way best-suited to the student. I don't have a "one size fits all" approach to teaching; rather, I try to tailor my approach to the learning style of the student. I believe that each and every student has the potential to learn whatever subject matter is being investigated. My math teaching style relies heavily on problem solving and repetition. I believe that a huge part of the learning process involves gaining confidence, so I work very hard in that area.

A Little Bit About Me...

While going to college at the UW – Eau Claire, I've been a math and statistics tutor for the past four years. I've also been a Teacher’s Assistant for a statistics Professor where my duties consisted of running review sessions for the class before quizzes and exams along with grading homework and exams. I have completed four statistics courses dealing with different areas of statistics. I also have experience in one-on-one tutoring. Over the past four years I’ve tutored seven students individually meeting at the library to work. Last year, though, I worked with a student who had Cerebral Palsy.
