I am a great believer in Cognitive Constructivist teaching methods. I believe "working with" a new concept or idea is extremely valuable in remembering the target information. I believe in setting high expectations for students and believe that all students can learn and excel. Most of the students I work with have had such negative experiences with school that they become frustrated. I work to restore their self-esteem and to teach them to recognize what they need to do to learn. I enjoy children and trying to teach them new and exciting things. As a teacher with dyslexia I felt that I was unable to teach reading to my students. I went in search of more training and found Alphabetic Phonics a Orton Gillingham program. I have sense used what I learn in the almost 160 hours of training with 11 students and seen progress in all of them. I love working with children and helping fulfill their potential. I like at children as water that must be directed in the right direction. I will do this my trying to find research validated methods of teaching that teaching to all the learning styles.
