I've taught creative writing to Japanese university students in English only (songs, stories and poetry) for two years, and ESL to all ages in Japanese society for 22 years. In America, I taught freshman public speaking, composition, and literature at the university level. My students have gone on to top-level universities, and placed first in prefectural level speech competitions. I teach how to learn, and encourage a love of learning, as well as teaching the subject. I base all my lessons on the value they allow the student to impart to society, both economically and ethically. I encourage students to welcome responsibility and empower themselves as learners.
