I believe that once a student can enjoy the process of learning they can begin to internalize the good study habits required for academic success. I use a constructivist teaching method and often use Socratic teaching as a means to have students thinking independently about their work. A Little Bit About Me...

My strategy to learning unknown subjects is very close to the same way children learn to walk, by immersion. Everything we learned as children was assimilated through watching, mimicking and attempting. I believe personal experience and learning are very close and in teaching I try to keep that in mind. I find myself a very visually inclined learner and utilize that to help others learn, such as drawing or watching videos. I have found that audio learners do well when given analogies and kinesthetic learners do well with drills or acting out what they have learned all to mimic what their learning so that it might sink in better much like how when we learned to say our first words.

I recently graduated with my Master's degree in Social Welfare from the University of California at Berkeley, and earned my first graduate degree in 1997 at the University of California at Los Angeles in Education. I taught 2nd grade in a bilingual Spanish classroom from 1996 to 2000 for the Los Angeles Unified School District. I also taught English to high school students for the Peace Corps in Nicaragua. I have studied foreign languages and speak Spanish and Portuguese fluently, and also speak some French and Japanese. I have earned two bachelor degrees which has given me the chance to motivate other youths and kids to seek the world and don't let it end with High school. There is more to life. Granting that Education is the key to success and without education there will be no sense of direction.
