Student-centered Tutor with lots of patience.

Expereinced SAT / ACT/ GRE tutor with perfect scores

My tutoring experience has mainly focused on SAT / ACT prep and ESL (TOEFL). I have also been a high school / middle school teacher in social studies / history / humanities for the past 4 years. My comments on tutoring Grammar : For some reason, I have loved grammar all my life. I was one of those few people who enjoyed parsing sentences, proofreading documents, and looking for errors throughout our media (of which there are many!). One of my favorite areas of teaching SAT prep was the editing section of the verbal test. Students enjoyed the chance to correct others' writing instead of having theirs corrected, and I enjoyed watching them do it. Good grammar can make or break any writing, so I am eager to help others improve their message by perfecting their grammar.

I have taught over 20 years in private & public schools in Hawaii & one summer in Michigan. My experience ranges from elementary to college level. The best successes come after their greatest disappointments

I like to make my tutoring sessions productive by encouraging students to work hard to complete the taste in order to receive a reward in the form of a game or something they enjoy doing. I love working with children and adults!

I am an informal teacher because I do not yet have the experience teaching in a formal setting accept for writing lesson plans for language arts. Otherwise, I am looking forward to working with adults and children on their studies because they need the help.

A Little Bit About Me...

Basic piano geared towards student interest level. Many of my students have quit piano from other teachers because they were bored or forced to play the same classical song for 4 months until it was perfect. I engage the student.
I began playing piano at the age of 5. At 13 I started teaching piano in Hawaii Kai at the request of neighbors and the business has continued all these years.
