Making Learning Fun and Easy!

I have a bachelors degree in Economics with a concentration in mathematics. I have been tutoring all of my life. I've tutored children, college students, and adults. I've tutored mathematics, grammar, reading, writing, and the military entrance exam. I tutor all levels of mathematics up through Calculus. My teaching style is to move at the students pace - however slowly or quickly that may be. I don't mind being asked the same questions. In fact, I believe that there is no such thing as a bad question, and that a student should ask a question as many times as s/he feels it is necessary to do so.

The best way to describe my teaching style is to find a creative way to remember material. For example, I have a child that had to memorize his prepositions. We made up a song that included them all, in order. It turned out to something like this....ABOARD a ship AS we were traveling ABOUT eight knots, etc. This style was very effective for memorizing. For subjects that require more understanding than memorizing, I prefer my "teach and try" method. This means that I go through multiple problems with a student explaining the steps involved. Then, I set-up a mock test to test their abilities solo. I therefore can grasp their understanding and pinpoint their weaknesses.

Both of my parents were teachers so it is in my blood. I am a firm believer in finding the right way to convey information to anyone, especially your student. I do believe that everyone has a different way of learning. Some students need more visual instruction, especially the younger learner or the learner that may have been away from school for a period of time. Some like to work on their own but be guided by instruction, review, question and answer and timed testing to insure that they have mastered a lesson. A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate student, I have successfully tutored a number of undergraduate students. I received my BS in Biology and minor in Chemistry. Currently, I have 15 graduate semester hours including Advanced biochemistry, parasitology, Advanced botany, and Plant development.
