My recent experience in teaching children includes my own personal experience as I have been teaching my two year old her ABC's, Spanish, counting, etc. I believe it is important for her to gain a global perspective of the world and therefore I teach her about not only our own religion and customs, but also those languages and religious customs of those living in other parts of the world. Since I have the opportunity to work one-on-one with students on a daily basis I try to tailor my teaching style to each student. When students are more visual I try to use photos or stories to explain concepts. However, when students learn better by reading I allow them to do so, and discuss the reading after they have had time to absorb the information. I feel like I have to adjust to each student's individual learning style when trying to teach.
I am currently working towards my Masters Degree in School Counseling and work as an intern at McCaskey High School.
