For Science and Math I employ an inquiry-based method of teaching/exploration. This allows for more meaningful learning and gives the student the opportunity to learn on his or her own before being given instruction by the teacher. This method is aligned with the STEM initiative in the United States. For Language Arts, reading, and Spanish, I teach by individualizing instruction to each child, allowing for meaning-making and communication rather than simply rote learning of facts and vocabulary. The key to success in any field is overcoming fear. I used to have a fear of some classes, until I decided I was going to face my fears and tackle the subjects. I can break down long problems and concepts into smaller components that are easier to understand. Math or science can be broken down into baby steps or bite size pieces. I work to make the subject as simple and logical to the student so they can master the subject. My goal is not to simply hand out fish, but to teach them how to catch their own fish.
