I love teaching. I earned my BA before I was old enough to vote. While my classmates were in his/her senior year, I was teaching. Eventually I earned my M.Ed. in Reading, then started School Administration and Adult Education. In the teaching and tutoring process, I use contemporary methods of instruction, which include the internet, mp3 examples, and DVD's. I also use traditional methods in teaching because music requires a special sharing of skill and knowledge much like other art forms. A step by step progression of skill acquisition is vital to the continued success of the student in music. These skills remain in use throughout the students musical life.

During my junior and senior year in college, I TA’ed a finance class called options pricing for two semesters. Options pricing was a difficult subject. I worked very hard to receive an A- for the course, which turned out to be my favor. I had insight to the intellectual hurdles other students had to overcome to master the material. So, teaching them came very naturally. In addition, I abandoned the lecture format for a very interactive teaching format. This allowed the students to ask many questions and allowed me to gage the level of comprehension from in the students real-time.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have always had a knack for the sciences and left the Midwest to follow my love of Marine Biology. While in school, I revisted my interest in the arts (painting, piano, and animation). It was then I realized I was passionate about so many topics and didn't want to limit myself to one thing! I've worked with kids throughout my entire life, whether I was teaching swim lessons, piano lessons, or tutoring. I took Spanish for 4 years in High School use it every chance I get. If I had the time I would take on degree after degree!
Speaking to children of all ages comes naturally to me. My parents both love being teachers and have been in the game for over 30 years a piece!
