If a Student enjoys a subject; it will be easier to learn.

I use a lay back positive reinforcement teaching style. I try to figure out things the student likes and relate it to the subject. My main goal is to get the student to like the subject and enjoy learning about it, for if the student enjoys a subject it will be easier for them to learn.
I Graduated from Harrison high school in 2011, and I am currently working to get my bachelors in biology at Kennesaw State University. I have been tutoring neighbors in science, math, and vocals since my sophomore year of high school. I have been given many small awards by my school teachers in Science, math, and Vocals.

Friendly, experienced, creative, and happy to assist!

I received my degree in English from an excellent college in the Midwest. While there, I worked as a writing tutor for 3 years and was highly praised for my ability to help improve students' writing skills. While working as a writing tutor I underwent regular training. I also have a strong knowledge of APA/MLA style and can assist students in properly formatting their work according to APA/MLA standards.
I'm friendly and cheerful and like to have discussions with my students about their papers and their other interests. Typically, I'll read over papers, asking questions as I go and making comments as I go along. I do like to mark on papers so that changes can be more easily made. I generally try to think of new and creative ways to explain grammatical concepts and general writing concepts if I'm not being clear. Basically, my tutoring sessions involve a lot of conversation. My comments on tutoring Shakespeare : I taught Macbeth to twelfth grade high school students while student teaching at Berry College and have an comprehensive understanding of Shakespeare plays. I can explain the language and stories in a context that any teenager could understand.

I graduated from McIntosh High School in Fayette County and studied English and Secondary Education at Berry College. I student taught for a year at Rome High School before graduating and becoming a substitute teacher in Fayette County. I have completed three long-term substitute positions, two of which put me in charge of an entire classroom with all the responsibilities of a full-time teacher. Additionally, I worked at Aloha-USA Mind Math with Elementary Students as an English Teacher and occasionally a Math teacher.
I opt for making the material relatable to my students, which causes it to be more interesting and meaningful. When something is relevant, it is a lot more fun and kids are much more willing to want to learn, which is, of course, ideal.

Shakespeare is one of my top subjects! Over the last year, I have developed a very strong passion for Shakespeare. I have taken multiple Shakespeare-specific classes and received A's. I also frequently study his work in my free time and run a blog dedicated to Shakespearean critical analysis.

I am new to the tutoring field but am very passionate about the idea of helping others learn. I am currently minoring in English and am planning on furthering my education by obtaining a Master's in Shakespeare after receiving my Bachelor's in 2016. The subjects I have chosen to tutor are those I am very excited about, and I hope to share that excitement with those needing assistance. I have helped fellow students with these materials before in an unofficial tutoring environment and have enjoyed it immensely; I'm hoping this will open my doors a little wider and allow me to become a bigger part of the tutoring world. I am patient, understanding, and fully willing to take sessions as slow or as fast as needed for each individual student. I understand how difficult and frustrating it can be when trying to dive into a challenging subject, and I also know how hard Shakespeare in particular c ... read more

As a person I have always held my work ethic to remarkable standards. I've finished an Associate's Degree in two years flat, and am well on my way to having completed a bachelor's in only three and a half years time. Along my studies I have worked to support myself, as well as bring others up in my wake, tutoring colleagues and counseling those in need of a friend, and I have challenged myself, being one of few to attend the first ever Honors English course at Gordon College, and coming out with an A+. I continue to work hard, and I strive to set an example for all future generations, and I hope that by building off of my accomplishments, they can achieve things they've only dreamed of.
I love helping people to see the other side of things, and understand how simple complex systems can be. Mainly, I like to inspire thought, and provoke an individual learning style in all those I me ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that science has a undeserved reputation for difficulty as a subject that is directly related to the inability of many teachers to "break it down". Science can seem to be like a foreign language to the uninitiated, but at its essence science is simply a way of thinking about the world and asking questions. Several themes appear again and again in concepts that on the surface may seem unrelated and it is recognizing these themes that is the key to success in building knowledge and confidence. My teaching philosophy is to point out these common threads binding various topics in science and relate it to the real world as quickly as possible, always with the goal of breaking it down to its simplest explanation.
I hold a bachelor of science in Biology (cum laude) from Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA and attended graduate school at the University of Pennsylvania School of Me ... read more

I appreciate the fact that every child is unique and I believe that all children deserve the opportunity to be successful in school. Each child’s pace of learning and learning style should respected. I feel that developing good self-esteem is vital to a child's well being and that a positive educational experience can help support this development. In my interactions with children I have always enjoyed listening to them talk about their interests and concerns. In order to be effective, tutoring should be an interactive and joyful process in which there is mutual respect and understanding between the student and teacher.
