I have been an on and off tutor for several years, both official and unofficial. I have helped out students since as far back as I can remember, but officially started tutoring in 2009. I have mostly done private tutoring, usually in libraries or public areas. I am willing to work with whatever special needs your child has and give them the extra push they need to do better.

My comments on tutoring Algebra I : You need to know your basic if you are tutoring calculus

Have a PhD in organic chemistry. Have been teaching assistants in almost undergraduate level chemistry classes (general chemistry, organic chemistry, and analytical chemistry) during graduate school. Have more than 13 years tutoring experience. Paid my undergraduate college education through tutoring and scholarships. My strongest subjects are chemistry and mathematics.
I would like to explain a global picture of a class material, what to expect from learning the class. All of this is not to scare students, but to mentally prepare them with the challenge ahead. I like to give my student quizzes after the tutoring, just to make sure they understand. This is a feedback process, so I could adjust my tutoring style accordingly.

I know shotcuts in math that really help students to safe time and understand the material. I created my own theory of explaning things that is not writtern in any math book. It is easy to understand for students. The most important thing is to explain math through pictures not formulas. The formulas will be understand automatically after the student understands the picture and concept. I am very patient and ready to explain as long as it takes. At the end of the section I give homework. Then we discuss homework on the next meeting.
I started doing private tutoring in math at Santa Monica College when I was a student in 2005. I had a lot of clients from different countries. I helped them with precalculus, triginometry, algebra, calculus, multiveriable calculus, linear algebra. I studied 2 years at SMC and transfered to CSULA. In 2006 I was a member of a physics club at CSULA which ... read more

My comments on tutoring Algebra I : I can make it understandable

Retired, credentialed school teacher with over a 40 year work history. 22 years in the computer industry, with business experience in marketing, project management, call center management, integration of acquired companies into company dispatch and invoicing systems. 13 years teaching multiple subjects to ELL students, specializing in math, science and social studies. 7 years retail experience including sales associate, office manager, account reconciliation.
My style is relaxed, patient and with a focus on the student discovering their knowledge with gentle guidance, as opposed to talking at someone. Each person has their own style and progress on how they learn, which is just as important to adapt to than merely teaching at someone.

Cheap tutor looking to teach elementary/middle school

I am a High School Student, but do not be discouraged by that. I have tons of experience by tutoring children elementary and middle school levels where they would excel in their math classes. I really look to get into the business of tutoring once again and at the same time manage my school work. Tutoring is something that really brings my moral up. As soon as their parents expressed praise after receiving results, I was more than flattered to look for another tutoring opportunity.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style has been formulated since I was in college as a Teaching Assistant. I have found that although by following some examples to solve one or two problems may be a quick way to achieve a short term success, however, the students would forget them quickly and when the situations have some minor changes, they may not be able to solve the problem by themselves again. I would like to teach them the theory behind the problems and to make sure that the students have a full understanding of the subject. This is my personal experience. I learned engineering in this way, remembered them, and utilized them in the rest of my life. If you want to be a successful civil engineer, come to me and I will teach you how.
I am a registered professional civil engineer in California and Texas with more than 20 years real world civil engineering experiences. I have M.S. and B.S. degre ... read more
