A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching has always been a passion of mine. I have a strong desire to see each and every child succeed. I believe that all children have the potential to do well if they are given the right tools and are able to use them. I believe in hands-on learning and giving students the opportunity to really experience what they are learning.
I recently graduating from Northwest Christian College with a bachelors of teacher education. I have a license to teach PreK-5th grade and I have a TESOL degree which allows me to teach English as a second language to students in grades K-12. I have taught Sunday School and youth group for eight years. I had two years of Practica and Student Teaching.

A Little Bit About Me...

My career passion has always been to work with kids. I received a BA degree from the University of Oregon in Family & Human services. I began working right out of college with homeless and runaway street youth as a caseworker for almost 3 years. As you can imagine, this job was heart breaking and emotionally taxing. I wanted a more positive avenue to work with students so I pursued my teaching degree. I was hired in South Lane School District in 2002 and have stayed for the past 4 years. As a counselor for two summers at Camp Harlow (eugene, OR), I had my hands full playing, mentoring, and getting know up to twelve kids every week from the ages of 5-14. A Little Bit About Me...

I am driven to learn as well as to teach. I have a BS in Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences and an MA in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, both of which have afforded me great experience not only in the sciences but also in writing skills. Over the last 11 years, I have taught and tutored students from elementary-aged to adult in English, writing, science, math, and test prep.
Everyone has a distinct learning style and attitude. I relish the opportunity to present subject matter to students in the precise manner that invokes that "eureka" moment where they finally achieve understanding of something that has frustrated, intimidated, or eluded them.
