I'm pretty laid back. I like my students to make effort and hope to add a little fun in there but for the most part I expect my students to learn at their own pace and it doesn't matter how fast they move but they have to make effort.
I have just earned my TESOL certification and am looking forward to beginning teaching English. I have spent a majority of my life teaching in one form or another. My elementary school, Hamen Elementary, had a program in which good students could tutor mentally challenged students. I did that for three years. I also spent 8 years teaching martial arts and three years teaching dog training. I am also responsible for the majority of my younger brother's education. I work with all different types of learners such as visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and read write when it comes to students. I make sure that the children and adults will understand the course material and subject matter they are working on of their own academics.

My comments on tutoring Dyslexia : I enjoy working with students with dyslexia. I have found that all students are gifted regardless of any special needs, and students with dyslexia are no exception. These kids need help with study skills, work habits, fine motor skills, organization, and social skills, as well as interest/career direction and testing.I have worked with curriculum such as Touch Math, Step Up to Writing, Explode the Code, Saxon Phonics, Dolch, and Handwriting Without Tears. Using these and other curriculums, I have had great success with these gifted students.

A Little Bit About Me...

My belief is based upon the idea that all children are different and consequently, they learn differently. I have been taught how to approach those of ESL backgrounds, a multitude of handicaps, and learning disabilities, just to name a few. For instance, every once in a while, a child will take too long to copy notes off of the board or doesn't understand directions that well. For istances like this, I write down notes and tape them to their desks, provide additional coaching and prompts, or even modify assignments.
