At our first session, I ask that each student complete a short quiz to determine their learning style (visual, auditory, kinesthetic, etc). Every child learns differently and I believe that discovering what works best for each student is the first step towards success. Once we figure out what his/her learning style is, I cater to this. If they learn best by reading, I'll prepare worksheets based on what they're learning; if they're hands-on learners, I'll make an activity.

As a tutor, I conducted one-on-one sessions with college-age students to help them improve their writing and critical thinking skills. I also led several workshops on various skills required for college-level writing, such as "How to write a historical/biographical analysis" and "How to write a Marxist analysis."
