I am currently heading for a BS in Elementary Education while I am home schooling my children. I have home school grades 6-11. I have accomplished raising reading levels within 6 months past 2 grades past level. I have tutored and home schooled children outside my own and have been asked to assist children with reading. A Little Bit About Me...

I began tutoring in high school. I worked at a local day care where I tutored a special needs child. The experience was very rewarding and inspired me to continue tutoring while in college. I went to North Georgia College & State University, were I earned a BA in English, and an MA in Public Administration. As an undergraduate student, I tutored other students in English and Writing through the NGCSU Honors Program. I generally try to remain as friendly as possible with the tutee so that he/she can relax and learn in a comfortable environment. I work on a first-name basis and try to make sure that the student is LEARNING, rather than merely finishing his/her homework. I teach using a Platonic method, asking prodding questions and getting the tutee to figure out the material him/herself. Occasionally, I have to teach in a more stern and disciplined manner b/c the student is distracted or doesn't feel like doing the work. In these cases, I remain disciplined to emphasize how important learning the material is but do not speak or act harshly.
