English has always been my best subject. It was natural for me to major in English Education when I decided to go back to college. I believe that when I teach English, I make it fun but most importantly, understandable. I love reading and reviewing the different genres that this subject covers, especially short stories and novels. I earned my Bachelors degree in Oregon and starting substituting there on my way to a permanent position. In Oregon, you must have a teaching certificate to sub. By the time my first year ended, they had passed a tax reform bill and were actually laying teachers off. I came to Florida in hopes of getting a teaching position, but found the attitudes on education much different and chose to go another route. I still substitute regularly. I also worked as a Teaching Assistant for a First grade classroom. I also tutored for a national franchize for one year until someone else took over the business. As a recent graduate of Strayer University, Adult Education I have had the priviledge during my work experience to be able to tutor reading with first and second graders from inner city school program under the PNC BANK reading program. I have had extensive knowledge in training adults for the last 10 years in the field of security and have been able to extend myself with adults as well as children.
