I have worked as a tutor during my volunteer experience at Friendship Baptist Church. As a peer tutor I helped youth with subjects such as math and language arts. This was an after school program for youth grades K-12 and some were battling with learning disabilities. Some skills I obtained from this experience were patience and organization. In addition to this experience I also worked at a daycare for children up to 5 years old. The skills I taught these children were basic learning skills such as reading, writing, addition and subtraction. As a tutor working with such young children I learned different techniques in how to capture them and keep their attention focused. I also used games and activities to incorporate learning so they would be more interested and enthusiastic to learn.

My comments on tutoring Elementary Math : I am very good at introducing students to math and how it works in there life and how much they actually already know.

I enjoy tutoring, both with children and adults. I enjoy being able to take something that people deem as difficult and explain it in a way that they can understand it and apply it like they never did before. I am very patient and friendly and can relate to my students. I am also good at having them relate to the subject, thereby showing them the importance of what they are learning as it pertains to them.
