A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate from the Oregon Institute of Technology I have had an in depth education in math, physics, and electronics with a healthy supply of technical writing. While in school I was able to help other fellow students in their math classes, much as I did when I was in high school. This experience, coupled with growing up in a house with two teachers for parents, has helped me obtain a useful teaching style.
I like math because it's all about building off of fundamentals. Once a person has a good hold of the fundamentals, they can begin to apply them to more complicated problems. I find the best way to build up the fundamentals is to relate it to the student in some way. Once the material is related, the student is better able to focus and concentrate, which allows for a quicker and more firm grasp of the subject matter.

I believe that everyone can learn with enough effort. However approaching the material in a way that makes sense to the student is key to allowing the student to understand new ideas. I like to think of new and creative ways to explain ideas to students and am patient and considerate when I teach. I believe in the value of every student and strive to instill self-confidence. A Little Bit About Me...

Throughout my college experience, I have had multiple chances to volunteer as a classroom aide, tutor, and student teach. As I am certified to teach grades K through 8, I have taken college courses in all subject areas. I have pursued in greater detail language arts, mathematics, and social science in order to earn my middle school endorsements. I have tutored students from elementary grades up through algebra 2. I have begun learning Mandarin, Spanish, and Polish. Also, I have a passion for learning which I hope to impart on my students.
