While attending the University of Oregon I began teaching preschool, which turned into a twenty year career. I owned and operated A World of Wonder Preschool. I earned a B. S. in psychology and sociology. I earned my M.A. in Elementary Education in 2008. Since the fall of 2008 I have been substitute teaching on a regular basis. It is my experience that an instructor delivers more learning when a student has an interest in the subject. "Inspire rather than require," has far greater efficacy in delivering information. I tend to make it fun, interesting and encourage student participation and feedback. Reward, a basic human desire, engenders craving for learning. As each individual’s qualities are unique, I try to determine if one is a visual, auditory or tactile learner. Analogies often make good teaching aids. For example, if the subject were human circulatory systems, shining a light through a leaf reveals veins similar to our own and is more apt to draw the student into the subject. Although I enjoy working with small groups or one on one with student I believe that I am able to work with more then ten students at a time. I really try to let the kids explain to me how they interoperate the dictation first and then help them a long.
