I have throughout my entire grade school career been both a tutor and a mentor. As young as in nine years old in fourth grade I was selected to tutor kindergarten children in mathematics. As I grew older, I continually tutored my peers in a multitude of subjects, math being the prominent and my best subject. In my junior year of high school, I was personally selected to mentor and tutor at risk middle school aged children at the partnered junior high. Reading is one of my top subjects!

I have worked in Metro Nashville School system as a DIrector of Bordeaux Northwest Family Resource Center where my focus was "Children Will Succeed in School". My focus was securing tutors for students who were not reading on grade level. During this tenure I was successful in assisting more than 150 students successfully meet their goals.
I perfer to work with students one on one. I feel that reading or the lack of the ability to read effects every other subject. It is also important for the student to understand what they are reading (comprehension, rather thatn just calling words. I like to question students about wht subject matter. I also think Phonics have been placed on the back burner, I think phonics are extremely important.

As a graduate from Tennessee Tech University, I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Elementary Education.
