I've been a teacher's unofficial little helper since I was in Elementary, helping the students of my class that the teacher simply didn't have the extra time to help. From then on, I helped and even eventually taught my younger siblings when the current school system left them in the dust, and even helped them get a leg up and advance faster than their classmates. I've tutored a few younger kids in various subjects in my high school years, as well as occasionally teaching Taekwondo classes.

I believe all students are capable of learning. It is the role of the educator to help students identify their strengths and provide them with the tools that will help them integrate new knowledge into existing schemas. I try to integrate metacognitive tools into content teaching to instill life long learning.
I have over 350 hours of experience working in middle school intensive reading classrooms, 180 hours in a 7th grade science room, completed an internship in a 7th and 8th grade science classroom, and volunteered at Naples Botanical Gardens. I like to make teaching fun! If a student is bored they aren't going to be putting 100% into their work. I also use a positive reward system and celebrate all achievement. Even if it is minor.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have always been fascinated by numbers and how the analysis of numbers can be used in nearly everything we do. I have a MBA from a top 20 program that has helped me further develop my mathematical skills in statistics and calculus. I have helped tutor children in various after-school volunteer programs and was a paid tutor while in undergrad and grad school. While the tutoring ran the gamut, I tended to focus on math (algebra, stats), finance/accounting and writing (typically logical essays not creative writing).

As a graduate of a private liberal arts college, I was educated in English and multi-cultural literature. As a reflection of what I was learning, I became interested in participating in the literary tradition, and began to take creative writing very seriously. As a undergraduate my main focus was interpersonal and intercultural communications. I tutored at a local high school for two years in many different subjects, especially math and english. I spent two years living in a francophone country in Africa and also have two years classwork in french as well.
