I believe that learners are most successful when they are confident in their abilities. I generally begin by assessing a child's present independent functioning level and slowly building on that. Nothing is more motivating than intrinsic rewards, so I strive to make the learner aware of their growth. I encourage them to celebrate every break through and to minimize the importance of errors. I stress that errors are simply stepping stones to the next level of competence. I have over thirty years teaching experience in the Chicago Public Schools. I have been a reserve teacher for the last five years in the Dayton public School system. I teacher basic education from grade k-12, but my best subject is k-3 and I am getting my certify license in early childhood education at Central State. I just got done with my student teaching and that was very educational for me because it was just about what I was already doing in teaching but it let me know that I was doing what I had learning in school. I also worked with preschooler so I know what they can do at their age level. my teaching style is what the children need to know about that lesson, and how can I help them get what they need to be successful in school.
