My comments on tutoring Typing Skills : Three years taken in high school.

I graduated High School in 2011. During my junior year of High School I started home schooling so I could take college classes. I took three classes at Skyline College, all of which were completed with a B or better by the time I was a senior in High School. Along with my college classes I babysat a five year old and tutored him three days a week. During my senior year of High School I would regularly tutor a 16 year old and a 14 year old. After I graduated High School, I attended Modesto Junior College for the 2011/2012 Fall Semester. I always say I start my tutoring with the basics. My teaching style is patient because I was working with younger kids, providing a demonstration of what I wanted then to do before asking them to do it, if it involves writing or any other type of physical activity. When teaching reading and vocabulary i would sound out the letter or word and then ask the child to do the same, then move on to the next letter or word. After I have gone over the material with them once, while providing tips they can use to remember certain things, I'll ask them to try it on their own. If they are still having difficulty, I'll help them sound out the letter/word till they get it on their own. That's usually all it takes.

A Little Bit About Me...

I strive to include various learning styles when working with children. Some students learn best by listening or writing, while others need movement or tactile experiences to help in comprehension. I believe in keeping students engaged at all times, to minimize wasted time. Every child has potential. A teacher just has to know how to reach each child, and that happens when the students builds trust with the teacher.
I have taught music in public education for the last 15 years. I have been involved in church music ministry for over 25 years, and currently am the church pianist in Stockton, Ca. I love working with children of all ages. Math is my second love and I almost majored in math instead of music. Math was always easy for me in school. Although I don't enjoy writing, I am very strong in written English and enjoy proofreading papers.

I volunteered my services as an IT Consultant to DSBI (Dream it, See it, Be it) Academic Achievement Services/ City of Modesto to assist the impoverished locals get needed education. My work included tutoring staff and students in basic math, science and computer education. I also trained staff in maintaining computer software. I have a Bachelor Of Science in Computer Information Systems with a minor in Mathematics.
I have always enjoyed sharing what I have learned with others. My ability to simplify seemingly difficult concept coupled with my sense of humor, makes me an excellent choice for tutor. I want every student leaving my lectures to be more confident in themselves and strive harder. I believe all children want to learn as long as the learning process is fun.
