Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other.

I don't use a lesson plan or guided lessons, I let the kids lead. They usually know what they need help on and if they can figure out what they are having problems with, then everything usually starts making sense. I usually keep my laptop with me, I refer to it if there is something I can't answer or figure out how to start drawing. I don't rely on it, but usually use it as a reference tool.
I've never actually tutored someone, but I am very good at relating with younger kids and High Schoolers. I was in band from 8th grade to 12th grade where I participated in the Front Ensemble section with keyboards, vibraphones, marimbas, xylophones and various other instruments. My comments on tutoring Grammar : Grammar is difficult so it is left untried; however, it is key to accurate communication and communication is life. You must master grammar, or at the very least, come to an understanding of WHY it is important.

I hold a Bachelors in English with a minor in Philosophy and Religion. I have years of experience in business writing and in creative writing and poetry; some work in advertising and PR as well. I read books for money, forecasting pre-publication fiction for the trade magazine Publisher's Weekly. English is the most beautiful, malleable and useful language on earth! Whatever you learn now will greatly assist you in school and in the job market of the future.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe everyone will respond well to individualized instruction when the tutor studies the student's learning style and offers the information in the form best suited to each learner. I am patient and encouraging with students. I work hard to find ways to present a subject so that each learner will find it interesting.
I am the author of five historical novels and a number of articles, poems and short stories. I occasionally do short “residences” teaching Language Arts and Drama to special needs students in k-12 schools for VSA Arts of Florida. My graduate studies emphasized American and Tudor/Stuart History. My doctorate included a Criminal Justice minor. I regularly teach writing and grant writing seminars to adults, usually through libraries on weekends or in the evening.
