My comments on tutoring Reading : My Reading experience consists of 8 years in the elementary setting and 6 years in the middle school.

I have taught Special Education within the public school system for 16 years. The subjects targeted have been Math (K - 8), Language Arts (K - 8), Reading (K - 8), Social Studies (K - 5), and Science (K - 5). The regular education curriculum has always been followed for instruction and my students have done well in learning the material and scoring well on the TAKS/STAAR.

My comments on tutoring Reading : I'm also a former pre-school teacher, so I have experience teaching basic letter recognition and phonics from a pre-school level to elementary level.

Utilizing multiple intelligences to aid in tutoring students is important to helping all students improve their skills in all disciplines. Patience, perseverance and a sense of humor along with supporting not only the student, but the family is very important. Tutoring is a way to address the specific needs of the student when it's not possible to do one on one teaching sessions when the student needs more time on task.
I have been hired recently to teach Creative Writing, Reading and Math in late November.
