I have currently worked at the Herkimer ARC for the past eight years. I have alot of experience working with people with disabilites from severe Mental Retardation, Cerebal Palsy,Autism, Learning Disability and Mental Heath. I have obtained a degree from Herkimer College in applied science with a minor in education. I also went to Mohawk Valley Community College for two years to obtain a degree in Nursing. I am a very caring open individual who loves to help people. I am looking for part time employment to start a college fun for my three year old daughter. I have years of experience training new employess at the Herkimer ARC.
I am a hands on teacher. I can verbally explain things and then i like to utilize different techniques to ensure the children understand what i am explaning. I am opening to different teaching styles because each child learns differently.

I have put a lot of thought and effort into my teaching style. I love teaching and love working with all types of students. I believe in learning through a hands-on approach and through real-world applications. I beleive that all students have the potential to succeed and there is no such thing as a "dumb kid." I tend to prefer lectures combined with textbook assignments as opposed to teaching either using films, powerpoint presentations or computers. I am a strong believer in mastering a topic as opposed to spitting out the correct response. I also believe in finding one’s main learning style and teaching to it, not that of the masses. The classroom environment seeks to teach the most people the most knowledge in a single shot. Tutoring should seek to teach an individual to their greatest potential. I strongly believe that identifying whether someone learns best by seeing, hearing or doing something and delivering the knowledge in that way helps them to better comprehend what they’re doing and be able to repeat it, no matter the scenario they’re presented with.
