I am direct. I like to help the student find what is inside of them and write it. I am compassionate and challenging. There is an inner writer in all of us and I like to guide and help the student discover their true abilitiy effortlessly.
I began my college journey as an English major. I decided to switch to Elementary Education to be able to reach future writers before they lost the love for it. I have worked with all ages from toddlers to seniors in high school. I have been published in world wide devotional for women along with a world wide magazine. I have taught writing in schools to children who were struggling as well. Writing is who I am. My passion has been there since I first learned how to write in Kindergarten.

I have taught 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. I also have experience in 7th and 8th grade. My strengths are teaching math strategies such as facts, multi-step problems and algebra. I have a passion for reading and writing instruction. I am highly qualified to teach reading fluency, phonics/ word attack, comprehension and vocabulary. I have a variety of high interest activities to help students build their confidence in both reading and writing.

A Little Bit About Me...

In addition to the administrative experiences listed in my resume, my rapport with the people I serve has always been such that I am seen in their eyes as a 'big brother'. I have developed advanced communication skills and people-skills over the years, and am considered by all who know me as a very friendly person. I have trained mentors in para-professional counseling for many years. I have also taught languages as a volunteer. At one point in my career, I was given the opportunity to volunteer teach in Paraguay. What a wonderful cross-cultural experience that was for me!
